Risk and plenty of rewards at every hole
Legendary American golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr., ‘the father of environmental golf course design’, designed the 224-acre site, completed in 1991.
It was his intent to preserve the lush, natural beauty of the Surrey surroundings and combine it with strategic variety to reward all players. The result presents the golfer with three loops of nine holes, designed for players of all abilities.
The Church, The Garden and The Mill combine to three 18-hole courses, each with a par of 72.
The Church gets its name from the historical Wisley village church built in 1150. While none of the holes on The Church play alongside the river, they still offer a fantastic challenge. There are three separate lakes as well as a watercourse that crosses into play on holes 4, 5 and 6.
Many members consider The Garden the toughest. Named for its proximity to the Royal Horticultural Society, four of its holes run adjacent to the RHS Wisley Gardens and are separated only by the River Wey. It’s a truly scenic and quiet river setting, but watch out for any stray shots to the left. Fishing equipment optional.
The Mill is named after the Grade-II-listed Ockham Mill, a short distance upriver with three holes that play along or over the Wey. While Mill 9 is certainly the most spacious in terms of landing area off the tee, its boldly-contoured greens require a superb putting touch.
Whether you are a tour pro or a total beginner, the combination of excellent golf facilities, challenging course design and immaculate presentation make The Wisley the ideal club for members of all golfing abilities. The club provides the best practice facilities to enable members to work on every aspect of their game throughout the year. There is a grass practice tee for the summer months; and the most advanced artificial surface and covered bays for the winter.
